A sweet snack that will please eyes & satisfy taste buds : DIY JELLO Oranges.

“One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.” ~Luciano Pavarotti and William Wright, Pavarotti, My Own Story

A sweet snack that will not only satisfy your taste buds but please your eyes also. Jello Oranges. A fun, fruity treat that kids AND adults will love!

JELLO Oranges

Project Supplies:Oranges (as many as desired), Boxes of Jello Mix (as many as desired), water, pitcher, muffin tins, spoon, bowl, patience.;)

Project Instructions:

1.) Cut your oranges in 1/2 & scoop out the insides.

Place all of your orange insides in a safe place, a bowl or a container with a lid for use in whatever you like, later on! [I scooped my oranges out right over this bowl to make clean up a LITTLE bit easier. Be prepared to get squirted with orange juice in your EYES. 😉 Gutting oranges takes a bit of care, and maybe even some determination -I used a pumpkin carver to help get started, then used a spoon to scoop the insides out, took the hollowed out orange half to the sink & rinsed it out to make sure I get all of the lose pieces out & finally used my kitchen scissors to cut out the bigger piece of white pulp that was left]

2.) Make JELLO according to directions on box. [I made mine in an easy pour pitcher/container]

3.) Pour desired amount of Jello into desired amount of orange halves. [I placed the orange halves in muffin tins to prevent them from tipping over or spilling in the fridge]

& because I am an honest blogger, I will share with you what MAY happen if you go crazy when gutting out your orange & create a hole in the bottom of your orange; …

…it WILL leak. So take care when gutting your orange-even though I know the insides can be stubborn to come out sometimes!

4.) Carefully place your Muffin tins full of orange halves into the fridge. Leave in fridge until Jello is well set.

5.) Remove from fridge, place orange halves (one at a time) onto a cutting board, cut in half (& in half again if desired), arrange on a plate and serve to your guests,or enjoy it all to yourself as a sweet after dinner snack…

…and make sure to give your little ones a bite!…..

…Everything is sweeter in life when shared!

I hope you enjoy eating AND creating this fruity-sweet snack!

  1. I really appreciate the step by step! I saw a bunch of these on pinterest but never clicked through for instructions. I was trying to figure out how they hollowed them out so cleanly! Even on yours at first I was thinking you cut them in half, then somehow seamlessly got them back together in a perfect, leakproof whole shape. DUH!

  2. Cute idea! My grandkids would love it!

  3. Oh my…I just love these! My kids would be so excited if I made them. Thanks for sharing the great tutorial, found you on TIpJunkie!

  4. So cute, and so easy. I can’t wait to try this. Great job!
